Nylon products, as substitute for copper and other
metals, have been widely used in chemical, machinery industry and
scientific research. It is a kind of very promising new materials,
with the advantages of low weight density, resistance to corrosion,
saving of metals, and low cost. It is welcomed by customers for
its superior property.
[Property]
- Excellent resistance to abrasion: its coefficient
of friction is often 0.1-0.3, about 1/4 times of that for phenolic
plastics, 1/3 times of that for babbitt metal. It has good self-lubricating
property.
- Good mechanical property: its surface hardness is
high. It also has strong tensile strength, bending strength, and
impact strength, together with good ductility. Its compressive
strength is comparable to that of metal, which its fatigue strength
is comparable to cast iron, aluminum alloys.
- Good chemical stability: it is stable in chemicals,
such as mild base, alcohols, ester, ketones, hydrocarbon resin.
- Hardiness and thermal endurance: it can keep it
mechanical strength in temperatures as low as -60°C, or as
high as 80-100°C
- Low density: 1.05-1.15
